yeah its a very cool design, shame its so rare but i guess thats what happens with rare designs especially if maintenance changes to a different company

Michal M also theorised in the comments that it could be a glitch with a software update that's been brought in recently and only otis-maintained lifts would have had access to this update, but whatever the cause is it's such a strange issue and the fact it's popping up in all sorts of places 😂 shame we probably won't find out unless an Otis engineer tells us which i would say is unlikely to happen

This fixture style along with the KSS470 you see on lower spec models lasted a long time, I've seen them as new as 2019 and I believe the new voice started in 2017. So while it's not too common this overlap is a thing that happened for a while and there's a fair few examples of it around. And yeah I don't think I've heard an ecodisc brake better than this example, it's one of the best!

If you didn't know ecodisc brakes you'd certainly not imagine something like it could produce such sounds!

assuming you did also get these john lewis lifts too then the only thing you missed within the centre was a lift in lakeland but its a boring generic so you didnt miss anything important lol

A schindler lift with dewhurst, an OTIS Gen2 with an "ExpressEvans" call button on the first floor, a KONE Monospace with KSS570, another KONE Monospace but with KSS470, an Aritco Platform Lift. Try guessing what mall it is. (Hint: It's the one that has DanceDance Revolution A20+, which I sometimes go there to play touhou remixes at a basic difficulty because im bad at that game lol)

You had me thinking st Enoch for almost all of that but you've thrown me off the trail with mentioning a KSS570 as I don't recall one of those in there. They have 6 Schindlers with dewhurst plus the other lifts you mention along with also a KSS140 monospace and another gen2 at Tesco

aside from otis having this issue i can't recall other instances where something like this occurs. The occasional double voiced kone isn't the same as that is the dual-language option set to english twice because silly engineer whereas this is definitely two separate voice units behaving differently on the same lift. I had thought dundrum corrected it but i couldnt remember lol, that was 2020???? guess that lift was warning us in advance of what was to come lol

@@ZZ9ProductionsOFFICIAL As far as I can tell, any OTIS lift that is maintained by OTIS themselves (i.e. all John Lewis lifts) have had an additional voice enabled on a completely different speaker to the main voice speaker. I think it depends on the maintenance contract but I could be wrong.

the weird thing is there are still some lifts that have escaped it (example being the middle lift out of the three seen in this video) but the biggest mystery is why it's even being enabled in the first place while the main voice still works fine?? And it surely must be a new ACU given it sometimes times messages differently compared to the main (again example being these lifts), so what's prompted this mass installation of more voice units?

@@ZZ9ProductionsOFFICIAL I believe it's to do with a software update. Either a bug, or perhaps they were getting issues with their speech units in lots of other buildings, and decided to update the software to add the stream voice to each lift that's connected to the internet. This is my best guess but I could be completely wrong.

Ah so you've got some form of stannah there I assume. Shame you didn't get something better like a kone or Schindler but hopefully there's something interesting about the stannah you've got

@ZZ9ProductionsOFFICIAL it's generic and a bit dirty and it travels at a estimated speed of 0.9 m/s

If it is actually 0.9 that's very fast for a stannah assuming it's hydraulic, I've been in one that I think I measured to be 1 m/s but most hydros are somewhere between I think 0.5 and 0.67 or so, can't remember

It's actually run by the same company lol but the interesting thing is it's a much newer lift so I wonder if they just put the Otis screen in both places at the same time

I've definitely seen videos of the kones with letters, I don't remember specifically seeing videos of the others but it'll be easy to find them I'm sure. Haven't been to Norwich myself but who knows what the future may bring

The glass lifts were originally KONE TMS from 1992, those along with the Boots lift are the most original lifts on the site. All the others have been completely replaced.

I thought it was ALS voice for a long time too but it turns out this is actually an older Lester voice, as surprising as it may seem given how different it sounds from the super common Lester you hear everywhere

@@ZZ9ProductionsOFFICIAL it makes sence as the boots in Guernsey where I am from has a old lester voice in a old kone M seriers lift mod by old lester however the lift sadly its getting replaced by a ecodisc soon as its unsafe to be used

its sad to hear another old lift is being replaced but i hope the new lift gets set up well, kone have been a bit hit and miss with how well their new installs are set up in recent times

When I found out this voice was an old Lester voice I was really surprised as it sounds nothing like the lester we know all too well, if only they had stayed on this sort of trajectory rather than making what they did that's become super common and is almost never happy about being a lift voice 😂

I haven't been in the Cineworld but I've seen videos of the lifts there
